About Neil Ritchie's Family Tree
Please sign in to see more.
My name is Neil Ritchie and this site traces my family tree.

So far I've gone back all the way to the early settlers on my mother's side and it appears I have a convict ancestor in Thomas Bates who was transported to Australia in 1795.

Some of the information on this site has been lifted from other family trees on Tribal pages. I have tried to give credit to the source as much as possible. This is particularly true of information on the convict Thomas Bates. If I have not mentioned your name and you come across information that you know to be from your site please contact me and I will ensure a credit is given.

Most of the rest of the tree goes back to people who I migrated from England and/or Ireland (based on the surnames).

My father's side is more challenging as his parents split while he was very young so he does not know a lot about the family history. Also, his father immigrated to Australia from New Zealand with foster parents and adopted their surname on his arrival in Australia.

This is obviously a living document and I will continue to update with more information as i continue the research.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
